Marcos Jr. got 31 million votes in the Elections 2022 and it gave him a landslide victory. Several big political groups and local government officials supported the presidential bid of the then-Partido Federal ng Pilipinas standard-bearer.

One of those who worked hard for the campaign of now-Pres. Bongbong Marcos is his cousin, Leyte 1st District Rep. Martin Romualdez. He was his campaign manager during the election period.

Recently, another responsibility is out for Leyte 1st District Rep. Martin Romualdez. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, it is official that he is the new House Speaker. Pres. Bongbong Marcos’ cousin garnered 283 votes in the lower chamber of the legislative body.

Romualdez is sitting as the 24th House Speaker in the Philippines. There were no challengers for the House Speakership. Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary and Vice Pres. Sara Duterte witnessed the election of the House Speaker.

It was in 2007 when Romualdez had his first term as congressman. He expressed his gratitude to all his colleagues for the support that got him into the House Speakership. He promised to attend to all the concerns of the lawmakers in the House and to be fair that “every Filipino family” will be included in their agenda as he asserted “no one gets left behind”.

The PDP-Laban, the National Unity Party, and the Nacionalista Party are the biggest supporters of Romualdez in the House which gave him 61, 47, and 39 votes, respectively.
