Overarching strategy — that could be the theme of the two games I am examining. First a classic, Alekhine vs Yates (London 19229. Well known, but always worth a look.

There is a certain similarity between that and an old game I discovered in the database: Averbakh vs Hug (Palma de Mallorca 1972). It deserves to be better known.
