Mariel Padilla didn’t expect her husband to be the number one Senator
This is the first of Robin to enter politics and he already received a heart-warming support from the Filipino people. In a recent interview by PEP, Mariel revealed that they did not expect the number one spot even though they know that Robin is loved by many Filipinos.
That was the reason why when people were calling Mariel Padilla when she was on the plane to Spain, she really cried. Looking at the surveys, in which Robin Padilla was just in the 20th spot, the celebrity vlogger said that they really worked hard.
Mariel said that they did not have a “team” during the campaign period. “Wala talaga kaming funds. Meron lang kaming few friends, yung mga endorsements niya, yung mga talagang… Meron kaming volunteers, ang dami naming… karamihan sa kanila, volunteers. Kaya yung pagkapanalo ni Robin, kasama na sila doon,” the wife of the incoming Senator shared.
It was the volunteers from different parts of the country who posted Robin’s tarpaulins. Mariel also shared that they never bought tarpaulins in bulk and it never happened that their purchase has reached 100,000 copies.
When it comes to transportation, Robin also went through challenges. He does not own a private plane or chopper and he can’t rent one as well, so he had to travel by land. Mariel said that there were sorties in Mindanao when Robin came late and so he did the campaigning alone.
“Because siya lang yung nagta-travel by land. Imagine that he couldn’t go to all because… until eventually yung ibang mga kapwa senatoriables pinapasakay na siya,” the celebrity vlogger said.
Mariel Padilla also shared that her husband has no driver even during his oath-taking in Malacanang, the guards and the Presidential Security Group were surprised that they Robin Padilla was driving their car. This happened also when the Senator-elect went to Ilocos Norte during a major campaign event of the UniTeam.
