In the last few weeks of her term, outgoing Vice President Leni Robredo has had a full schedule, busy packing up six years’ worth of materials, attending to last-minute obligations, and prepping the turnover to incoming VP Sara Duterte. But instead of taking a break after six long years in national government, Robredo isn’t stopping anytime soon. Immediately after exiting office, she is set to launch the non-governmental organization Angat Buhay on July 1.
Angat Buhay to be turned to an NGO
The Angat Buhay program was originally a program developed and implemented under the Office of the Vice President (OVP) with the primary goal of fighting poverty in the country. Under the OVP, Angat Buhay has held nutrition programs, classroom construction, scholarships, housing projects, disaster relief operations, livelihood opportunities, and COVID-19 response projects, including free teleconsultation service Bayanihan E-Konsulta, mobile testing service Swab Cab, and drive-thru vax program Vaccine Express.
During a thanksgiving event held after the election, Robredo announced that the Angat Buhay initiative will be turned into a full-blown NGO to sustain the spirit of volunteerism from her campaign and continue providing assistance to those in the farthest and poorest communities. Many of her supporters have been eagerly awaiting the official launch of the NGO, and it’s finally here.

LIKHA ST+ART Festival
This morning, Robredo announced that she and her team are officially launching the Angat Buhay NGO in a festival to be held on the first weekend of July.
Dubbed LIKHA ST+ART Festival, the event is a two-day street and art festival where attendees can view some of the pink memorabilia and artworks that Robredo’s campaign team received over the last few months. ST+ART Festival will be held at the Angat Buhay Volunteer Center along Katipunan Avenue starting July 1, 11 AM before closing on July 2, 5 PM. Attendees are given tickets staggered between a couple of hours to allow ample time to view the exhibit while also accommodating as many people as possible.
In the final episode of her radio show Biserbisyong Leni, Robredo has also mentioned that some of the artworks may be up for sale to serve as part of the fundraising campaign for the NGO. “Napaka-heartbreaking bitawan, pero tingin namin ito yung best way na ilagay sa prominent place yung binigay nila sa amin,” the outgoing vice president said.

No tickets? Here’s how you can support
Unfortunately, within a couple of hours of the event’s announcement, tickets were officially sold out for the onsite attendance.

But don’t worry. Even if you didn’t get a ticket, you can show support for the NGO’s launch through an online livestream on their official Facebook page. According to Robredo, there will also be an online registration portal for people who aren’t able to attend onsite yet still want to see the exhibit. More details will be announced through her official Facebook page and the Angat Buhay social media accounts.
Beyond the launch, you can also look forward to the “pink” museum that will house the memorabilia, artworks, and gifts she and her team received during the campaign.
